Protecting Italy’s historical treasures
A recent BBC article has highlighted the costs of preserving Italy’s historical buildings for the next generation. It seems that the foundations of Rome’s ancient monuments are literally crumbling. Even global warming is playing its part, as water from freak rainstorms is seeping into the cavities caused by centuries of tunneling and digging. Read the full article here ….
It begs the question whether the protection of world heritage sites such as the Colosseum should be the responsibility solely of national governments ….
